Did you have a good week? Having a day at home at the end of it all is lovely but I find Nov. 11 often produces some sober musings, and well it should. I will spend most of the day doing the usual must-be-done things (report cards) but will also take a few moments to remember why I am home and not working. Our Remembrance Day assembly today was very well done and I was happy to see many parents join us. The children were so well behaved at the assembly and I was so proud of them! At the end of the assembly, after classes had delivered moving performances and we had watched two children from every class lay a wreath underneath a cross with the words 'Lest We Forget', some of the children were feeling sad. Truth to tell, I always feel emotional at the Remembrance assembly too. And I couldn't help but wonder what must have been going through the minds of the three veterans attending this morning. So while I am thankful to have a day at home at the end of the week, it seems ungracious to revel in it as the cost for it was so high.
Please refrain from sending more than 1 Halloween treat to school each day with your child in November. They will be encouraged to eat their healthy food (ie sandwich) before having the treat at lunch.

- Don't forget to send the library books back by Monday next week and your child will put it in the Library Box on their way in.
- Friday, Nov. 11 is Remembrance Day and therefore the school will be closed.
- Friday, Nov. 17 is Fresh Air Friday. At this point in the week the river has come up and there is no beach (how crazy is that?). If that holds true for next Friday we will plan alternate activities outside at school. Please dress for the weather.
- Permission slips and $2.00 for the bus for our trip to the BLSC are due back Monday, Nov. 21. Our trip is the morning of Friday, Nov. 25.
- Const. Sophie Winkels will be joining us Monday, Nov. 21 to present the WITS program (walk away, ignore, talk it out, seek help).
- PAC sent home a notice re: parent volunteers today. Please return by Friday, Nov. 18.
- I have asked the children to no longer bring their toys from home into our classroom as it was causing issues. They are free to leave them in their packs for play at recess and lunch but be aware that loss and damage is a possibility.

- November Family Projects are due back whenever they are completed.
- December Family Projects will come home early next week and will be due Dec. 1.
- B.E.S.T PAC will be having a Christmas Gift Shop at the school December 7 – 9 for students to buy Christmas gifts for their family. Items will be priced between .5 cents - $5.00. More information to come.
- Due to popular demand, the PAC will be raffling gift baskets filled with donated items at the Christmas Concert again this year. More info and our class theme for donations will be coming soon.
- Christmas gift idea? We have scheduled three skating sessions across January and February. If your child does not have skates they are welcome to borrow them from the school but the sizes might be off and they are a kijillion years old so not terribly warm or comfortable. This is a good time to start looking in secondhand shops for something suitable as the school books skating time for all classes every year.
- Zipped up coat weather is here and a number of the children cannot do them up themselves. Please practice zipping at home and putting on gloves/mittens too.
- November sight words are: at, and, do, from, go, he, see, she, stop (which we already know). If a word comes up repeatedly in our studies we will sometimes add it to our words for the month. Please feel free to practice them at home.
