The B.E.S.T PAC will be doing a CAKE WALK as one of our events at the Spring Carnival on Friday May 31, 2024 at 7p.m. If you would like to donate a cake or a dozen cupcakes, either homemade or store bought, please bring your cake on Friday May 31st between 2:15-3:00 p.m. or when you come to the carnival at 4:00 p.m. The more cakes/desserts that are donated the more tickets we can sell! Cake Walk tickets will be $10 a ticket and you are guaranteed to win a cake! If you are planning on donating a cake can you please email Kim at [email protected] by Thursday May 30th so we know how many tickets we can sell. We greatly appreciate all your support and as always, all proceeds go right back to B.E.S.T!

We have planned our BEST Intermediate Track and Field Meet for May 8th and 9th. Our PAC will be hosting a concession on these days selling a variety of snacks and drinks. Both the intermediate and primary classes will have the chance to purchase items. A pre-order form for primary classes was sent home on April 19, due to be returned the following week. This way, families can preplan their purchase choices in order to expedite the concession lineup. Primary classes will have pre-set times to visit the concession, while intermediate groups will visit the concession during their station rotation. Team Awesome will be on a field trip on May 8th.
 Monday will be Earth Day and Team Awesome was very excited to learn about and make posters with tips we can do at home to help the Earth this week. They also agreed that every day should be Earth Day and we should do what we can as often as we can. In 2018 the world's greenhouse gas emissions broke a new record. Global greenhouse gas emissions need to be reduced by 7.6% each year until 2030 if we want to avoid average global temperatures increasing to more than 1.5C above pre-Industrial levels by the year 2100. There are many sites online dedicated to small things we can all do to help make a difference, including the David Suzuki Foundation. Spread the word and make sure everyone you know is doing their bit too. I know we all want our children to inherit a healthy, sustainable Earth.
