My name is Ms. Eryn Dowler and throughout the 2018/2019 school year I will be a Student Teacher in your child’s classroom. I am a 2nd year Bachelor of Education student from Thompson Rivers University. I will be completing my final two practicums in Mrs. Bowden’s classroom; one in September 2018 and another from January to March 2019. Throughout my time in your child’s classroom I will be teaching various units across a variety of school subjects, as well as participating in the everyday operations of the classroom. I am excited to get the year started as well as to be a part of your child’s beginning school experience.
During my time in Ms. Bowden’s class, I will be observing Mrs. Bowden, the students and the daily operations of the school. My observations will include reflections on classroom management, lesson/unit planning, social and emotional relationships between students, relationships between students and teachers/administrators, how independence is fostered in the classroom, and much more.
For my September practicum, I will be a part of your child’s classroom from Tuesday, September 4th to Friday, September 21st, 2018. I will be teaching your child a 5 lesson unit on ‘Getting to Know Each Other’. This unit will incorporate games, songs, books, and activities to help your child to feel welcome in the classroom from the start, so that all students and teachers can have a successful year together. Throughout this practicum I will also be helping Mrs. Bowden to conduct the student/parent/teacher interviews, set up the classroom, as well as help your child transition from home/preschool experiences to Kindergarten life.
During my January to March practicum, I will be a part of your child’s classroom from Monday, January 7th to Friday, March 15th, 2019. Throughout this practicum my teaching load will gradually increase until I am teaching 100% of the time. During these 10 weeks, I will have a chance to teach your child something from every subject and work with your child every day to help foster their own love for learning.
My passions for education and teaching have blossomed with the growth of the children I have come across in my work and volunteer experiences. Becoming an inspirational and accommodating educator is one of my life goals, and I look forward to sharing this experience with Mrs. Bowden and your child. I am enthusiastic about teaching Kindergarten in my future, and look forward to teaching your child. I am an outgoing, friendly, and energetic teacher, who is also understanding, caring and respectful of all students regardless of race, background, home life or life experiences and I cannot wait to meet your child.
If you have any questions or comments for me, please do not hesitate to come and speak with me at the school or call the school directly. I am truly looking forward to becoming a familiar face to both you and your child this school year!
Sincerely,
Ms. E. Dowler
