You guys. Last week I took 500 photos of Team Awesome. I'm not exaggerating. 500! Even for an avid photographer that's a bit over the top, don't you think? And I am far far from avid (although I have been called rabid but that's not the same thing). My computer, which is about a kijillion years old and makes strange whirring noises every time I ask it to do something (making me sweat that this is going to be the time it conks out, causing me to lose everything) wanted to throw a hissy-fit when I downloaded them so that's how I know it was 500. The almost-defunct computer threw up a notification box that read something like,
"Seriously? Are you kidding me?!?" We agreed that it could take as much time as it needed to download them just as long as it didn't crash in the process. Team Awesome is just so over-the-top cute and I want to share as much of what we do in our classroom during the week as I possibly can. Admittedly, you are soon going to tire of pictures of us reading/ colouring/ cutting/ gluing/ playing but until that happens I am going to continue to take and post tons of photos. Maybe I could work on cutting it down to 200 a week though.

- Family projects are due Monday, Oct. 19 or when they are finished.
- Permission slips and $5.00 for our pumpkin patch visit are due Monday, Oct. 19. Let me know if you need another one.
- Tuesday, Oct. 20 are school photos and an early (12:30) dismissal day for parent/teacher interviews. Team Awesome will host an informal open house at 12:30. Please come!
- Wednesday, Oct. 21 is also a 12:30 dismissal day and a second open house for those who could not attend on Tuesday, or want to come twice.
- Friday, Oct. 23 is a non-instructional day so the children will not come to school.
- Monday, Oct. 26 is our field trip to the pumpkin patch and on Tuesday, Oct. 27 we will carve the pumpkins we brought back from the trip with the grade sixes.
- October 26 is Drop Everything And Read Day and BEST will be joining the rest of the schools in SD 73 by reading at 11:30.
- The last Wednesday of each month is Pink Shirt Day and a spirit assembly so that will be Oct. 28.
- Our RCMP liaison officer will give us a Halloween safety presentation the morning of Thursday, Oct. 29.
- We will participate in Halloween activities Friday, Oct. 30 and Team Awesome is welcome to wear their costumes.
- This is early but I wanted to make you aware that Team Awesome will be skating on Jan. 28, Feb. 11 and Mar. 3. We do have skates available for the children to borrow at the school but they are limited in sizes and about a kijillion years old so not terribly comfortable. You might want to keep your eyes open for a good used pair if you don't already have some. Helmets will be mandatory.
