On Tuesday or Wednesday we will have a discussion about what Team Awesome can expect on Friday, Oct. 31 and we had better share the details with you before you get a 5 year old's version (which we are sure would include tons of treats in their lunch and a new puppy each). The children are welcome to wear their costumes throughout the day (or not) but no weapons, masks or gore are allowed. Please note that if your child wears their costume all day it probably will not come home in the same shape it came to school in. Please label all costume pieces with names and refrain from sending little bits and pieces/ accessories as they are difficult to keep track of and often end up lost. Various Halloween activities will take place throughout the day, including a Halloween safety review discussion, some fun stations and a dance towards the end of the afternoon. Unfortunately we can not share food/ treats. Fun fun fun!! Please refrain from sending more than 1 Halloween treat to school each day with your child. They will be encouraged to eat their healthy food (ie sandwich) before having the treat at lunch. Monday Oct. 27 is our visit to the Pete Murray Corn Farm's pumpkin patch in Chase and Team Awesome is very excited. We will be leaving on the bus as close to 9:00am as possible. The weather in the mornings has been damp and chilly and the corn maze can get muddy so appropriate footwear, as well as a heavier coat (with a tissue in the pocket), hat and mittens are suggested. We can all choose one small pumpkin to bring back to school where we will use them for some scientific observations. The children must be able to carry their own pumpkin, either in a labelled bag or their pack, and we will mark names on them before loading them up. We will walk to the river, have our snack then explore the pumpkin patch and corn maze before returning to BEST. We will eat our lunch at the school. If you are joining us please make sure you have prearranged it and your smaller children have a sitter. There is a cost of $6.00 for each parent joining us (does not include a pumpkin although you are welcome to buy one at the farm).
*You are welcome to drive your own vehicle/ carpool or join us on the bus although we have a limited number of seats available. *If your child is going to or coming from Chase in your vehicle, please let us know.
