Friends Forever

26/6/2025

This is always the most difficult post we have to write all year and we are unable to postpone it any longer. At the beginning of the week we talked with Team Awesome about all the 'big feels' our hearts were going to experience this week- sadness at Kindergarten with Team Awesome coming to an end, excitement at the adventures the summer was going to bring and anxiety about the new school year in September to name a few. And most of them nodded and admitted that they were having some of the same feelings. We reassured them that we aren't going anywhere. They could come and visit us at the end of the hall any time they felt the need next year or the year after or even after that. And we told them they were going to love their new teacher so much that they would soon forget about us and that was ok. That's the way things are supposed to work. Many of them disagreed with the latter statement and required extra hugs and reassurances throughout the week. But we made it through and nobody cried- including us (much). And so now Team Awesome is ready, whether they know it or not. Ready to move on and continue their educational journey. They will enjoy all the activities summer holidays bring, grow exponentially in so many ways, and come back in the fall over-the-top excited to jump into grade one. Few of them will need any reassurances from us because they will already have moved on and opened their hearts to everything to come. Because that's the way things are supposed to work.
And once again, we would like to thank you, Parents, for all you have done to help us make the first year of schooling a successful one for Team Awesome. They are a great group of children whose hearts are large and that doesn't just happen on its own. That is a direct result of all the love and care given to them by you. Thank you.
We look forward to seeing you all in the fall and while the children aren't in our learning spaces any longer, please visit us at the end of the hall!

The entire BEST staff would like to express our sincere appreciation to the PAC for all their hard work and tremendous support over the course of the school year. The PAC has worked tirelessly raising funds to support our students through their many events and fundraisers. These funds have been very important to the school, supporting numerous learning programs and purchasing educational resources for our children. To everyone who has given of their time and energy to improve our students' school experience- Thank you! If you are interested in joining our wonderful PAC team, contact the office for information.

Thank You!

Today was the last of our whirlwind marathon of field tips this June and we hope you enjoyed them as much as Team Awesome did. We would like to give you a heartfelt 'Thank You' for coming and supporting the team. Without your help we would not be able to take field trips and we appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedules to join us. For those of you who weren't able to come, we hope you enjoyed the pictures and stories the children shared with you. So from Team Awesome- and us- THANK YOU!

Bright Red Book Bus

20/6/2025

Research has shown that young students may experience a decline in their reading skills if they do not read over the summer. Access to high quality books helps ensure students continue reading. As a collaborative project with Literacy in Kamloops and Boys & Girls Club of Kamloops, the Bright Red Book Bus visits schools and local parks throughout the summer, providing children with free new books and encouraging reading for pleasure. Unfortunately, Bert Edwards School of Technology will not be hosting the BRBB this summer but it can be found at a number of other schools and parks in the district throughout the week during July and August.
Feel free to visit the Bright Red Book Bus' Facebook page by going to the link below.
